Geoffrey S. Baker is a veteran photojournalist living and working in Oella, MD. He spent his early career working as a staff photographer for four different newspapers both on the East and West Coasts.
While scouting locations in order to relocate back to the East Coast, a chance turn up Oella Ave. brought him to the hidden mill village high above the Patapsco river. He immediately knew he was home. Mr. Baker and his wife have been there since 1990. Oella is a continual source of inspiration for him.
In his spare time Mr. Baker is an avid ultrarunner (distances beyond the marathon, commonly 50K, 50 miles and 100 miles). He considers ultrarunning both a sport, a lifestyle and a mystical source of enlightenment. His ultrarunning work has been featured in Trail Runner Magazine, Ultrarunning Magazine and Running Times Magazine. He continues to both participate and document this niche extreme sport community.
